OUR MISSION

THE MISSION OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS SOCIETY OF AMERICA

The CNMI Society is dedicated to the welfare of the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands and its people. Our goal is to promote the traditions of the Mariana Islands, including the rich Chamorro culture, and to perpetuate the native language of the indigenous people of the CNMI and Guam. We also support initiatives like the Junior Princess Program to empower the youth in these communities.

    The Junior Princess Program

    Junior Cherry Blossom Princesses

The Junior Princess Program, established in 2012, offers young girls aged 5–15 a special opportunity to engage with the Cherry Blossom tradition from an early age, while also celebrating aspects of Chamorro culture from the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. Designed to spark interest in the Cherry Blossom Princess experience, this initiative introduces participants to the cultural and leadership aspects of the program, encouraging future involvement as they grow.

Beyond fostering future princesses, the Junior Princess experience also welcomes sisters of past princesses, alumnae families, and members of state and territorial societies to take part in ticketed events. A highlight of the program is the Princess Tea, where each Junior Princess is formally introduced and receives her sash and tiara from the U.S. and Japan Cherry Blossom Queens.

Participants are also encouraged to attend the Lantern Lighting Ceremony and the NCSS Celebration Gala, where they will be recognized.

State and territorial societies may have multiple Junior Cherry Blossom Princesses, as there is no participation limit. Applications for 2025 are now open and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2025.
